About Us

The Incomparable is a weekly dive into geeky media we love, including movies, books, TV, comics, and more.

The host of the show is Jason Snell, a lifelong consumer of geeky media. In two decades in the media he’s written about technology, edited an early blog about television, and founded one of the earliest short-fiction magazines on the Internet.

Our regular panelists include John Siracusa, Dan Moren, Steve Lutz, Serenity Caldwell, Scott McNulty, David J. Loehr, Erika Ensign, Lisa Schmeiser, Andy Ihnatko, and Glenn Fleishman.

The Incomparable was the winner of the 2012 Parsec Award for best fan podcast.

We are enthusiastic consumers of entertainment who also enjoy critically analyzing the things we consume, because it leads to a deeper understanding of the work. Can we be critical? Yes, but this isn’t a podcast devoted to bashing things—though that sometimes happens. We’d rather love something than hate it, but sometimes we do hate things. Listen to episode 100 to find out more.

Unlike some other podcasts, we aren’t focused on the news headlines of the week from the entertainment industry or the fan community. We don’t do interviews. We focus on the works themselves, and hope that our episodes can be listened to in any order and long after they’ve been posted. We talked about “Raiders of the Lost Ark” back in 2010 and that episode still holds up.
